TRAVEL

Portland is served by an airport (PWM) into which many major carriers fly. This is the most convenient choice for meeting participants. The conference site is approximately 10 minutes from the Portland airport by taxi (about $10). The Holiday Inn by the Bay operates a complimentary airport shuttle for guests. (Guests must call upon arrival 775-2311.) The “Portland Explorer” city bus also travels through the airport from 11am to 5pm, but not on a regular schedule, so it is hit or miss. The cost is $2.

Boston Logan airport (BOS) is about 110 miles southwest of Portland, and may offer more economical flights with fewer connections. It is a 2 hour drive from Boston to Portland on the I-95 turnpike, and bus (www.concordtrailways.com) as well as train (Amtrak.com) service is also available. New Hampshire’s Manchester airport (MHT) is approximately 100 miles west of Portland and offers another alternative for flying into the region.

Directions to Holiday Inn by the Bay:

Take I-95 to Exit 44 (formerly Exit 6a).
Continue on I-295 to Exit 7, (Franklin Street).
Stay on Franklin Street for five (5) lights.
Take a right onto Middle Street, and travel approximately 1 mile.
(Middle Street turns into Spring Street.) Holiday Inn is on the left.
